Handy startup keys to know while booting your Mac.

Hold these down during startup:

Option (⌥) – Starts the Startup Manager

C – Boot from a CD or DVD

D – Starts the Apple Hardware Test from Install DVD 1 (Intel Only)

⏏, F12 or Mouse Button – Ejects the optical disc

T – Starts your Mac in FireWire Target Disk mode.

Option, Command, P, R (⌥⌘PR) – Resets NVRAM or PRAM

Shift (⇧) – Starts in Safe Boot mode

⌘V – Starts in Verbose mode

⌘S – Starts in Single-User mode

N or ⌥N – Start from a NetBoot Server
