Mike and Eric. Loved the episode featuring my thorny and voluminous migration questions. … and sorry about sooooo many emails as Eric reminded me in the episode. For the listeners, FatCat software’s PowerPhotos license allows use on two macs and they do specials with volume 2 or more discounts. The DUPLICATE command is the Power Photo copy feature and their website has a very good how to section. Once put of 16 times using this feature, the duplicate command in Power Photos failed for some reason to I used finder drag and drop. Not sure what . The merge feature is really great because it has a report that tells you exactly which photos say of two merging library were : left out because they are duplicates or left out because there was a problem putting them into the merged library . I mean you can look at the actual photo with its jpg number , say and if you want find it and put it into the merged library yourself . I will note that smart albums do not survive a merge. The album that WAS a smart album in PHOTOS before the merge IS STILL THERE but just a regular album not a smart album. You have to create new smart albums yourself. Again many thanks. I recommend MACTRACKER as a fun bu sort of non essential mac app because it gives incredible detail on each and every mac and has a slim profile.
Corrected sentence in first post : Once out of the 16 times using this duplicate feature, the duplicate command in Power Photos failed for some reason so I used Finder drag and drop. Power Photos puts the word “copy” at the end of the name of the duplicated photos library so if you do it many times you might see copy copy copy !
